Got some birthday photos printed for Max, visited Mission Estate Winery and went to the local Globe Theatrette in Ahuriri to watch Beyond the Edge about Sir Ed Hillary climbing Everest in 1953. Very civilised way to watch a film – my legs stretched out couldn’t touch the seat in front and they’ll bring in a pizza for you or you can take in a glass of wine or brownie etc. Hey, why limit it to ‘or’? I’m sure there must be a wine developed to go perfectly with a chocolate brownie…

And to cap it all, we sat next to a couple who live in the same retirement village as Max and who are friends with someone we know who was aircrew on Catalinas in WW2. I’m sure there is nothing we can do in Napier where we don’t bump into someone who either knows us or knows a relative or a friend!
