We caught the 6am shuttle to Sydney’s International Terminal for the 8:45am flight to Auckland.

We got on board but there was a 45 min delay due to planes queuing. The pilot offered to join the runway at an intersection as we weren’t full but ATC declined. We arrived at Auckland about 2pm.

We caught the shuttle to our car and Noel drove us north to Leigh to stay at Ian and Marianne’s place, for which they had very kindly given us the key. An amazing place with superb views.

About 6:30pm we drove the very short distance to the local corner shop and fish and chip shop but both were closed. There was also an Irishman driving around looking for food too!

So, we drove to Matakana and had a steak at the local’s Steak Night.

After getting back, standing on the balcony without light pollution, the stars were amazing.
