Left the flat at 2pm to go to Napier airport to see Max and Rose off on their flight to Melbourne via Auckland.

From there we went to the post office then into town and saw Pauline briefly.

Then we visited Dorothy who had played the organ at our wedding and who also made the excellent wedding cake and thanked her for her help. We had a nice chat with her and her husband. They showed us some flowers she had made from sugar icing which were just amazing.

From there we drove to Hastings airfield as there was a meeting about a weekend flyout to the South Island. It’s unlikely we will go on it unless it is delayed by more than 1 week by weather but it was still good to turn up. We also saw Malcolm, a Brit who has been over here for at least 40 years and who has built a number of planes, the latest being an RV12. He’s a lovely chap and we had a good chat with him and also Mads, a Danish guy. It turns out they were at the airfield on the 2nd March and saw the banner-towing plane picking up the banner which was flown over our wedding reception! Malcolm had also chatted to our UK pilot friend Pete who had dropped in on a Friday night and told Malcolm he was going to a wedding but Malcolm hadn’t realised it was our wedding. 🙂

It was very nice sitting in the bar chatting but in the end we left in search of fish and chips…
